Shorter Visits When The Long Week Is Too Much
Our outpatient program (OP) in Orange County offers scheduled sessions that fit around your life instead of taking up a whole day. Many people move here after PHP or IOP and keep the same clinicians, and you can also start here if a few sessions are all you need.
- Flexible — Session schedule
- Step-down — After PHP / IOP
- Dual dx — Substance + MH

Program overview
What Outpatient Treatment Covers
OP sessions are scheduled around work or school. Many people come here after partial hospitalization (PHP) or intensive outpatient (IOP), and they don't have to meet a new team.
You'll spend fewer hours in treatment than in PHP or IOP, and sessions still take place at our building at 23726 Birtcher Dr in Lake Forest.
At a glance
Flexible Schedule
How often you come in depends on what you need clinically, not on a fixed weekly checkbox.
Natural Step-Down
You continue with the same program after PHP or IOP, so you don't lose the progress you've made.
Real Clinical Care
Licensed clinicians lead your sessions and treat co-occurring conditions, so OP is more than peer support.
Built Around Your Life
Sessions fit around work, school, and family while still keeping regular time for recovery.
More about this program
If a few sessions aren't enough, admissions can move you up to IOP or PHP. They'll also check your insurance before you settle on a time.
How OP works
Scheduled Sessions With Clear Goals
OP won't fill your whole day. Instead, you see a clinician regularly and work toward clear goals, and your treatment plan sets how often you come in.
- Plan
Assessment And Goals
A clinician looks at how severe your symptoms are, whether you have co-occurring conditions, and whether OP is your first step or a step down.
- Engage
Regular Sessions
You'll have individual therapy, groups, and skills work on a schedule that matches your treatment plan.
- Practice
Practice Between Sessions
You use your skills at home and at work, then check in on how it went at your next session.
- Adjust
Step Up If Needed
If your symptoms get worse, you can move up to IOP or PHP without starting over.
Schedules depend on your level of care, and admissions can walk you through a sample week before you start.
Why this level
Why People Step Down To OP
OC Revive is outpatient only, so you get scheduled treatment hours in Lake Forest and go home at the end of each day.
- 01
Continuity After PHP Or IOP
You keep the relationships you've built with your clinicians and peers as your hours go down.
- 02
Easier To Keep Up Long Term
OP gives you enough structure to stay accountable without the burnout of staying in a high-hour program.
- 03
Dual Diagnosis Included
Mental health and substance use stay in one treatment plan as your hours go down.
- 04
Same Lake Forest Team
You won't be handed off to strangers when you finish IOP or PHP.
OP May Be Right If…
- 01
You're Stepping Down From IOP Or PHP
You've become more stable, but you still need regular time with a clinician and someone keeping you accountable.
- 02
Your Symptoms Are Milder
You need structured outpatient care, but you don't need several long sessions every week.
- 03
You Can Keep Your Session Times
You're able to show up consistently, which matters because OP only works when you take part regularly.
OP Isn't The Right Fit When…
You Need More Structure
If you need treatment on several days each week, IOP, Evening IOP, or PHP may be a safer place to start.
You're In Crisis Or At High Medical Risk
You'll need to get stable at a higher level of care first. If you're in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency.
You Can't Attend Sessions Reliably
Admissions will work with you on a schedule and level of care you can actually keep up with.
Therapies & modalities
Therapies Available In Outpatient Treatment
Therapists build these into group and one-on-one sessions, so you can practice the skills in session and use them at home.
- 01
DBT And CBT
These therapies teach you to manage strong emotions, get through distress, and change unhelpful thinking, and you can use the skills the same day.
- Identify triggers and unhelpful thought patterns
- Build ways to get through cravings and conflict
- Practice skills in group and individual settings
- 02
Art And Music Therapy
Art and music give you another way to work through things when talking isn't enough on its own, and creative work can help lower anxiety.
- A way to express feelings that are hard to name
- Structured creative work that can ease anxiety
- Tied to your treatment goals, not just free time
- 03
Yoga And Meditation
Breathing, grounding, and gentle movement help you stay steady when stress spikes, including after your sessions end for the day.
- Breathwork and grounding for moments of high stress
- Gentle movement to ease tension
- Skills you can keep using at home
- 04
Group And Peer Support
In process groups, you practice recovery with people who understand what you're going through. Isolation can make substance use worse, and a group gives you accountability and support.
- Process groups led by licensed staff
- Connection with peers who won't judge you
- A safe place to practice social skills
- 05
One-On-One Sessions
In one-on-one sessions, your clinician tracks your mood, substance use, and behavior against a treatment plan written for you.
- Treatment planning and regular check-ins
- Time to work on trauma and co-occurring conditions
- Clear goals to work on between sessions
- 06
Life Skills And Relapse Prevention
You'll work on time management, communication, stress, and relapse prevention, so the hours outside treatment support your recovery too.
- A relapse-prevention plan you can actually follow
- A schedule that fits work, school, and family
- Skills for relationships and daily life

In-Depth Information
What OP Sessions Are Like
OP sessions are scheduled visits with fewer hours than IOP, so you come in, do the work with your clinician, and get on with your day.
Many people start OP after finishing PHP or IOP, and they keep working with the clinicians they already know.
If You Need More Than OP
Admissions can check your benefits before you start, but your insurer makes the final coverage decision.
If you need more structure, ask admissions about IOP, which meets several days a week, or PHP, which is a full day of treatment.

FAQ
Common Questions
If you're not sure which level of care fits, admissions will talk it through with you without any pressure to decide.
(800) 808-675701What is an Outpatient Program (OP)?
OP gives you scheduled sessions with fewer weekly hours than IOP or PHP. It works well as a step down after those programs or as a start when your needs are milder.
02How is OP different from IOP?
IOP meets for a few hours on several days each week, while OP has fewer hours and a more flexible schedule.
03Can I start in OP without PHP first?
Yes, if your clinical assessment shows OP is enough. If you need more structure, we'll recommend IOP or PHP instead.
04Do you accept insurance for OP?
We work with many commercial plans. Call (800) 808-6757 or verify benefits online, and admissions will check your coverage before you start.
