Program overview

What Partial Hospitalization Is For

PHP is for people who need more than a few hours of treatment a week but don't need to stay overnight. You spend each treatment day at our building at 23726 Birtcher Dr in Lake Forest.

Each day mixes group sessions with one-on-one time, and substance use and a mental health condition can be treated together in the same plan.

At a glance

  • Daytime Intensity

You get several clinical hours each day, so symptoms, cravings, and co-occurring conditions get real attention instead of a quick check-in.

  • Sleep At Home

You go home each night and practice what you worked on that day in the place where you actually live.

  • Integrated Dual Diagnosis

Substance use and mental health are treated together, with a physician and your therapists working from one plan.

  • Step-Down Ready

When you need fewer hours, you can move into IOP or OP without starting over somewhere new.

More about this program

When you're ready for fewer hours, you can step down to intensive outpatient (IOP) or outpatient (OP) visits with the same team. If withdrawal needs medical care first, admissions can connect you with a trusted detox partner before you start.

A day in PHP

What A Typical PHP Day Looks Like

Your exact schedule depends on your clinical needs, but most PHP days follow the same pattern of check-in, therapy, skills practice, and a plan for the evening.

  1. Morning

    Check-In And Goals

The day starts with a clinical check-in, where you talk about how you're doing and set goals for the hours ahead.

  2. Midday

    Therapy Sessions

You'll have individual and group therapy with licensed clinicians, including CBT, DBT skills, process groups, and work on co-occurring conditions.

  3. Afternoon

    Skills Practice

Afternoons cover life skills and relapse prevention, and some days include art or music therapy, yoga, or meditation.

  4. Close

    Plan For The Evening

Before you leave, you'll make a plan for the evening, including who you can call and how you'll stay safe until your next session.

Schedules depend on your level of care, and admissions can walk you through a sample week before you start.

Why this level

Why People Start With PHP

OC Revive is outpatient only, so you get scheduled treatment hours in Lake Forest and go home at the end of each day.

  • 01

More Hours Than A Weekly Visit

PHP gives you most of the day in treatment, which helps when one appointment a week hasn't been enough.

  • 02

    You Don't Sleep Here

PHP isn't a hospital stay or a sober living home, so you head home when each day's sessions end.

  • 03

    Your Insurance Gets Checked First

Admissions looks at what your plan pays for PHP before your first day, since benefits vary by plan.

  • 04

    Your Hours Can Drop Later

When a full day is more than you need, you can step down to IOP in the same building with the same team.

Good fit

PHP May Be Right If…

  • 01

    You're Medically Stable

You need structured support for mental health, addiction, or both, but you don't need to stay overnight in a hospital.

  • 02

    You Have Co-Occurring Needs

Anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, or another condition shows up alongside substance use, and both need treatment at the same time.

  • 03

    Weekly Outpatient Isn't Enough

Your symptoms, cravings, or day-to-day stability call for full days of treatment and someone checking in with you daily.

Not the right fit

PHP Isn't The Right Fit When…

  • You're In Crisis Or Need Emergency Care

If you're at risk of harming yourself, medically unstable, or need 24-hour monitoring, you need a higher level of care first. If you're in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency.

  • You Only Need Lighter Support

If weekly OP or IOP already fits what you need, we'll tell you and help you start at that level instead.

  • You Can't Come In During The Day

If work or caregiving fills your daytime hours, Evening IOP or another schedule may work better, and admissions will help you compare.

Therapies & modalities

Therapies You'll Use In PHP

Therapists build these into group and one-on-one sessions, so you can practice the skills in session and use them at home.

  • 01

    DBT & CBT

These two approaches teach you to manage strong emotions, get through distress, and change unhelpful thinking, and you can start using the skills the same day.

    • Spot your triggers and unhelpful thought patterns
    • Build tools for getting through cravings and conflict
    • Practice the skills in group and one-on-one sessions
  • 02

    Art & Music Therapy

Art and music give you another way to work through things when talking isn't enough, especially feelings that are hard to put into words.

    • A way to express feelings that are hard to name
    • Structured creative work that can help with anxiety
    • Tied to your treatment goals, not just free time
  • 03

    Yoga & Meditation

Breathing, grounding, and gentle movement help you calm your body and stay present when stress spikes outside program hours.

    • Breathing and grounding for moments of high stress
    • Gentle movement to help your body and mind settle
    • Skills you can use at home each evening
  • 04

    Group & Peer Support

Process groups let you work on recovery alongside people who understand, which matters because isolation tends to feed substance use and a group helps keep you accountable.

    • Process groups led by licensed staff
    • Connection with peers who won't judge you
    • A safe place to practice social skills
  • 05

    Individual Clinical Work

In one-on-one sessions, a clinician tracks your mood, substance use, and behavior and adjusts a treatment plan built around you.

    • Treatment planning and regular check-ins
    • Time to work on co-occurring conditions and trauma
    • Clear goals to work on between program days
  • 06

    Life Skills & Accountability

You'll work on time management, communication, stress, and relapse prevention so the hours after PHP still support your recovery, which helps most with ADHD or a dual diagnosis.

    • A relapse-prevention plan you can actually follow
    • Daily structure and a safety plan for each evening
    • Skills for work, family, and relationships

FAQ

Common Questions

If you're not sure which level of care fits, admissions will talk it through with you without any pressure to decide.

(800) 808-6757
01What is PHP?

Partial hospitalization (PHP) is a full day of outpatient treatment without an overnight stay. You go home each evening, or to a sober living home if admissions has connected you with a partner.

02How is PHP different from IOP?

PHP usually has more clinical hours each day than IOP. IOP still meets several days a week, but it leaves more room in your schedule for work or family.

03Do you treat dual diagnosis in PHP?

Yes. We treat substance use and mental health together as a standard part of PHP, so you won't need two separate programs.

04Do you accept insurance?

We work with many commercial plans. Call (800) 808-6757 or use our verify form, and admissions will check your benefits before you start.
