When someone has a hard time stopping the use of drugs or alcohol, it is called a substance use disorder. This is a real health problem, not a choice. At OC Revive, we understand that addiction is a complex disease. It changes how a person’s brain works, making it very hard to stop even when they want to. Addiction can have serious consequences, negatively impacting a person's health, social life, and even legal standing.

Substance misuse happens when someone uses alcohol, prescription pain relievers, or other drugs in a way that hurts their body or their life. It often starts slowly. A person might use a substance to feel happy or to stop feeling bad. Over time, their body gets used to the substance. This is called building a tolerance.
When a person tries to stop, they might feel sick. These are called withdrawal symptoms. These feelings can be scary, which is why having medical supervision is so important. At OC Revive, we help people manage these symptoms so they can focus on their treatment goals.
Understanding the “why” behind the drug use is part of the recovery process. Many people start by using drugs or alcohol to deal with stress or other life problems. Over time, the body and the brain change, and the person feels like they need the substance to feel normal. This is why drug addiction treatment is so important—comprehensive drug treatment addresses not only the medical, but also the emotional and social needs of individuals to support long-term recovery. Effective treatment for substance use disorders often includes a combination of medication and behavioral therapy, tailored to the individual's specific needs and drug use patterns.
Why Choose OC Revive for Help?
Choosing the right place for addiction treatment is a big step. At OC Revive, we use a whole person approach. This means we do not just look at the drug use; we look at the whole person. We know that many people who struggle with addiction also deal with mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. We also help people who struggle with ADHD.
Our team believes in evidence-based care. This means the ways we help you are backed by research and science. We want every person to have the best chance for long-term success. We know that addiction affects the body, the mind, and the spirit. By using a whole person approach, we make sure that every part of you gets the care it needs to heal.
Programs and Services at OC Revive
Everyone is different. That is why we create a plan that fits your individual needs. We offer many different types of help to make sure you get the right support.
Outpatient Services
Many of our patients come to us for outpatient services. This means you get the care you need while still being able to live at home. It is great for people who have jobs or families to take care of but still need strong support to stop drug use. You can come to our center for your appointments and go home to practice what you learned in your daily life.
Group and Individual Therapy
Talking about your feelings is a huge part of the recovery process. In individual therapy, counseling is a key component of behavioral therapy, often combined with medication in comprehensive recovery plans. You talk to a doctor or counselor privately, which helps you understand why you started using drugs or alcohol in the first place. You can be honest about your life, your fears, and your hopes.
Group therapy is also very powerful. You get to meet other people who are going through the same things as you. It helps to know you are not alone. You can share your story, listen to others, and learn new ways to handle life’s challenges. Hearing someone else talk about their struggle with substance use can help you see your own path more clearly.
Family Therapy and Support
Addiction affects the whole family. Family members often feel hurt, scared, or confused. At OC Revive, we offer family therapy to help heal these relationships. We teach families how to support their loved one in a healthy way. Education for the whole family is a key part of our treatment programs. When your family understands what you are going through, they can become your biggest cheerleaders.
Addressing Mental Health and ADHD
Many people use substances because they are trying to manage mental health struggles. For example, someone with ADHD might find it hard to focus or sit still. Sometimes, they might turn to substances to cope with these feelings. At OC Revive, we are experts at treating the "whole" person. We look at how your mental health and your substance use are connected. When we treat the root cause, you have a better chance of staying healthy for life.
If you struggle with depression, anxiety, or ADHD, it can feel like you are always fighting an uphill battle. We help you find better, safer ways to manage those feelings so you don’t have to rely on drugs or alcohol to feel "right."
The Importance of Medical Supervision and Detoxification
One of the most important parts of the early recovery process is detoxification, or “detox.” This is when your body gets rid of the drugs or alcohol in your system. Because this can cause very uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms, it is much safer to do this with medical supervision. Detoxification alone is not sufficient for recovery and should be followed by comprehensive treatment to prevent relapse and support long-term recovery. There is also a significant risk of overdose, especially after a period of abstinence, as returning to previous drug levels can be dangerous; medical supervision is crucial in preventing overdose during this stage.
Our doctors and nurses are trained to help ease withdrawal symptoms. They can provide medication to make you feel as comfortable as possible. This is part of what we call medication assisted treatment. By using medicine under a doctor’s care, you can focus on getting better rather than just trying to survive the physical pain of quitting.
Building a Foundation for Long-Term Success
Recovery is not just about stopping drug use for a few days. It is about building a new life. Effective alcohol and drug rehab programs use comprehensive approaches to treat addiction, combining medication, behavioral therapies, and personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual’s needs. This is called long-term success. It includes:
We provide resources to help you every step of the way. From your first assessment to the day you finish our program, we are here for you. We know that the road to recovery can have bumps, and we are prepared to help you walk that road no matter how long it takes.
